16th July 2017 - The Children of Thanos Revealed

Corvus Glaive – This enforcer, whose job was to shakedown planets for gifts that would enrich Thanos, was immortal as long as his mystical blade remained unbroken. He was married to …

Proxima Midnight – This warrior used her spear – which was forged from a sun trapped in an alternate reality – to launch a shattering attack on Black Panther’s nation of Wakanda.

Ebony Maw – Not the most powerful of the Black Order, but a brilliant and manipulative thinker who wields power of persuasion over most beings. He famously tangled with Doctor Strange in the comics.

Black Dwarf – Don’t let the name fool you. This brawler is physically hulking and has superhuman strength and nearly impenetrable muscle mass. The bigger they come, the harder they fall is a cliché – but it may apply here.

14th June 2017 - Danai Gurira Joins Cast

EXCLUSIVE: Danai Gurira is starring in Avengers: Infinity War. No one is saying, but I’m speculating that she has brought to The Avengers sequel her Black Panther character Okoye, one of the ferocious female warriors who watch over the royal family of Chadwick Boseman’s character in Black Panther. This comes as she co-stars in All Eyez On Me, the Benny Boom-directed Lionsgate film about Tupac Shakur. Demetrius Shipp Jr plays Tupac, and Gurira playing the hip hop icon’s mother, Afeni Shakur (who actually was a member of the Black Panthers). That film will be released Friday. All this comes after Gurira established herself as the baddest warrior on prime time television in The Walking Dead, playing the samurai sword-wielding Michonne. Now, she’ll give rival DC’s Wonder Woman a run for her money in Avengers: Infinity War, which is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo for Marvel.

Are Tyrion Lannister and Tony Stark about to cross paths?

Marvel had no comment.

The Game of Thrones star is in early talks to join Avengers: Infinity War, Heat Vision has confirmed. Character details are being kept under lock and key, but he is said to play a key character who will also appear in the currently untitled fourth Avengers film.

11th January 2017 - Tom Holland Confirms Infinity War Appearance
Although it was pretty much a given that our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man would be swinging into Avengers: Infinity War, Tom Holland has taken it a step (swing?) further and confirmed that we'll definitely be seeing the webslinger in the hotly anticipated Marvel movie.

The reveal comes via a Tweet by Tom Holland Italia. Holland apparently confirmed the news in an interview with Vogue Italia (thus the original text is in Italian) that he is set to reprise his role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the epic superhero team-up. The news comes hot on the heels of Zoe Saldana confirming that Gamora will join her fellow Guardians of the Galaxy teammate Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) in helping Earth's Mightiest Heroes take on Thanos (Josh Brolin). Check it out:

  • 20th August 2016 - The Guardians of the Galaxy Confirmed to Appear by Vin Diesel
What Groot lacks in vocabulary, Vin Diesel made up for by spilling some Marvel news.

In a Facebook live video that aired on the actor’s personal page on Friday, Diesel confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy will appear in the upcoming Avengers movie “Infinity War.”

“Now, the Guardians will be included in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and that’s incredibly exciting,” he said addressing the live audience, “You were told before everybody.”

The real purpose of the video was not for Diesel to break news about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but to show off an award he received from Facebook for having over 100 million fans. Diesel spends most of the almost 30-minute-long video telling his audience how much he appreciates their support for his career, including joining the “Guardians” franchise.

“That whole concept started from you all saying, ‘When are you going to be in a Marvel movie?'” he said.

The actor didn’t share any more details regarding what role the band of misfit heroes will play in the film.

  • 30th July 2016 - Official Title Revealed
Marvel Studios has decided on a title for the currently in-development Avengers 3, making official that the film will be called Avengers: Infinity War. Avengers 4 meanwhile has been given the placeholder name Untitled Avengers.

Infinity War is the first installment of a two-part story that concludes with Untitled Avengers; the two films were announced together at an event in October, 2014 as Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2. Their respective release dates of 5/4/18 and 5/3/19 have not been changed.

  • 6th May - Captain Marvel Accidentally Confirmed
The Russo's might have just confirmed Captain Marvel for Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.

During an event at the Smithsonian Institute, the Russo's were speaking about the upcoming Infinity War, when they mentioned Captain Marvel by name. A fan quickly pounced, asking "did you just confirm Captain Marvel". Russo replied "Um....Captain Barvel. Totally different character."

  • 11th April 2016 - Thor & Star-Lord Confirmed to Appear
Having seen Captain America: Civil War, it is hands down the biggest Marvel Studios film to date. But Marvel is only going to make things bigger in the future, and that means characters like Star-Lord crossing from the cosmic side of Guardians of the Galaxy into the general Avengers world, the Russo brothers confirmed to Comicbook.com.

Aside from the massive scope of Civil War's story, part of what made the film so gigantic was its roster of heroes. Not only did almost every living Marvel Cinematic Universe hero show up for the feud, it also threw Black Panther and Spider-Man into the mix, which is part of what made the film so great. Each character, whether new or old, had an arc and a moment to shine.
Looking beyond Civil War, the movie's directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, will be helming the pinnacle moments of Marvel's on screen world, which by the time Infinity War rolls around will be a decade old. At a press event for Captain America: Civil War, Comicbook.com had the chance to ask the Russo Brothers which character they're particularly looking forward to working on - and neither of them appeared in their latest effort.

"The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that's happened before in the MCU so you don't want to get into spoilers but I'm a big fan of what James Gunn has done," Anthony Russo told Comicbook.com. "[Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you'd be very excited," he said, teasing Pratt and Star-Lord's presence in Infinity War.

Joe Russo, on the other hand, is excited to bring the Norse God into the mix and, especially because he knows something about Thor: Ragnarok that we don't.

"I'm excited to work with Thor," Joe Russo says. "They're doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he's gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he's gonna have a real emotional motivation after that."

In case there was any debate, we now know that Star-Lord and Thor will be making appearances, if not return trips to Earth, for Avengers: Infinity War.

  • 24th June 2015 - The Magus Being Cast
Thanks to Lady_Junky for the heads up.

Auditions are now getting underway for the Marvel Studios feature film ‘Avengers: Infinity War – Part I’ lead and supporting roles. The auditions for new lead and supporting roles will be taking place in Los Angeles, CA. The film is the first in a two-part sequel in which Thanos plays a major role, along with the Magus. Adam Warlock’s bad side, the Magus, separates from his body and assembles the Infinity Gauntlet. Magus creates doppelgangers of Earth’s heroes as part of his plan to recreate a universe of evil. “Avengers: Infinity War – Part I” will be shot entirely on the IMAX/ARRI 2D digital camera.

  • 7th April 2015 - Russo Brothers Officially Confirmed To Direct

We’ve been hearing for months now that the Russo Brothers are the front-runners to direct The Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 & 2: the two movie event that will (for all intents and purposes) close out Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More recently, a report emerged claiming that Anthony and Joe Russo had indeed closed their deal to helm the third and fourth Avengers films.

Today, Marvel Studios officially confirmed that the Russos will be calling the shots on the upcoming two-part Avengers “event” – based on the Marvel comic book storyline that will bring Thanos a.k.a. The Mad Titan’s (Josh Brolin) ongoing quest to unite the Infinity Gems – and use them for his own nefarious purposes – to the forefront. The first two Avengers installments were written and directed by Joss Whedon (including this year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron), but a screenwriter (or screenwriting team) has yet to be announced for the Infinity War features.

  • 28th October 2014 - Film Announced
It’s finally happenened, moviegoers. Today at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles Marvel Studios unveiled Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, dating all the way up to May 2019. All of their official release dates for unannounced features have been titled, and in some cases, slightly moved. We can happily put to rest the hints, reports and rumors from the last half a decade and focus on what’s actually going to hit theaters from camp Marvel.

The Avengers: Infinity War begins the summer of 2018 as a two-part story and bridging it and its 2019 followup will be Captain Marvel and Inhumans in 2018. We don’t know what comes after Infinity War breaks the universe, but it’s when most of the current main Avengers cast see their contracts expire. By the end of Age of Ultron we might already see a drastically different team and a few years from now we’ll probably have someone else wearing the Captain America uniform like in the comics.
